A ferrocerium rod is a reliable fire-starting tool that works in virtually any condition, including wind and rain. Each rod measures 3/8 inch in diameter and 4 inches in length, with approximately 12,000 strikes per rod before replacement is needed.
These rods combine flint and steel in a single, compact design. The material is soft enough to scrape into fine powder that can be sprinkled on kindling, or used with the included striker for direct flame application. Higher ignition rates and minimal smoke make them more efficient than magnesium alternatives.
The rods require minimal striking distance to ignite grass, leaves, paper, or firewood. They’re waterproof and perform reliably in wet conditions, making them ideal for emergencies when conventional ignition sources aren’t available.
Lightweight and pocket-sized, these fire starters are easy to carry in backpacks, vehicle glove boxes, or attached to paracord bracelets for everyday carry (EDC). They’re suitable for bush-craft, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, BBQ preparation, and emergency survival kits.
Each purchase includes two rods, giving you backup fire-starting capability. There are no blades or sharp edges, making them safe to carry and store.
To use: strike the rod firmly at a downward angle toward your tinder. Position the sparks directly onto dry materials to ignite. Keep one rod in your main kit and one as a spare.
